They achieve incredible feats, sometimes exhibiting crazy behavior, just to keep themselves safe. This video starts with a view of an apartment building. This is the type of apartment building where there are no balconies. Just windows side-by-side. You can see from the start that there are four broken windows where dark smoke is escaping. There are people breaking the windows in some of the apartments as they try to get a bit of fresh air while awaiting rescue. They’re in a dire situation. Some of the windows don’t have smoke escaping just yet. There’s even a window off to the right that has a fan on. Right next to that window to the left, you see something emerge from the dark inside. It’s a black cat. Unfortunately, black cats carry a certain stigma. It’s folklore that associates these little felines with sorcery and evil witches. These superstitious beliefs still exist today, and their adoption rates are heartbreakingly low, with the highest rates of euthanasia. This black cat, however, defies the belief that it should be put to death. It does not hesitate to make its escape. It looks out the window, jumps, and free falls down five floors. If you pause the video, you can see the cat’s stance as it takes temporary flight. Its two front legs are outstretched, and its two back legs are reaching backward. Its tail is erect, and it manages to keep this position all the way down the five-story fall. The cat lands on a patch of grass, kind of bounces up after the initial impact, and manages to get away. It’s still fully mobile, though you might think that a fall like that would have caused at the very least a broken leg. When the cat jumps, you can hear some screams in the background. Of course, people are worried about this innocent creature. But this cat proves self-sufficient and manages to escape what would surely have been a painful death.
