Dolphin Lifestyle and Behavior
Dolphins are amazing sea creatures who are highly intelligent, perceptive, and playful. They are found in oceans all over the world and are the star of many books and movies. Because they are very social animals, they live in groups of around 30 individuals which are called pods. However, larger pods have been recorded and can contain up to 1,000 dolphins. Humans and dolphins can form a very special bond. Dolphins have been trained by the military to locate objects and for surveillance. They have great self-awareness and are able to recognize their reflection. Some dolphins have even protected humans against shark attacks. They like to spend a lot of time in coastal waters and eat fish, jellyfish, crustaceans, and squid. They will also eat some mammals and birds if they get the chance!
Inquisitive Squirrels
There are actually more than 200 species of squirrel and they are found in almost all parts of the world. They are mammals and are described as rodents but are surprisingly happy to get close to humans. Squirrels are also very organized when it comes to food – they gather up food when winter is on the way and they store it in locations that they can access as the weather deteriorates. This is also an intelligent species – they live on their own but use sounds and tail positions and movements to communicate with each other. They are small, compact, and nimble animals with slender bodies, large eyes, and those unmistakable bushy tails. Most have pointy ears and they all have tiny sharp claws that allow them to scale trees so expertly. The squirrel diet consists of mainly nuts, seeds, fungi, and fruit and we can see the guys in this vid checking out the paving for tasty morsels. Apart from the odd glance towards the dolphin tank, these squirrels seem to be much more interested in finding food than in their aquatic audience!
