In one video, we get to see just how far a mom will go to protect her babies. In the clip, posted back in 2013, we can see a mother moose standing on a dirt road with her two calves. Moose generally give birth to their babies in May, meaning that this trio was out and about early in the summer months, especially with how small the calves were. The cameraman in the video, as explained in the description, is simply trying to get past the moose to continue on his way down the road. As the driver was about to find out, however, “squeezing by” this mama moose wasn’t really an option. After a few attempts at squeezing past the mom happened, she had had enough. With a charge, she sprints towards the truck, ramming herself into it. This mama moose wasn’t playing around! If the humans hadn’t been in a protective metal shell, things could have gotten hairy really fast. Why was this mama moose so aggressive? Well, it all makes sense once you read the description a bit further. Apparently, the mama was already feeling threatened because there was a grizzly bear or wolves nearby hoping to prey on her little ones. Instead of taking her babies back into the dangerous forest, this moose mama would rather face down a semi-truck. Now that’s some good parenting! Even though a semi-truck is big, moose are still quite formidable. Females can grow to 1,100 lbs, making them the largest members of the deer family in the entire world. Even more, they won’t hesitate to use that strength and size to defend their babies. Although female moose don’t have antlers, they will push and stomp any threats, often harming or killing the attacker in the process. Even though it took a while, the truck was able to make it past the protective mother without any more hassle. Although we don’t know what happened next, we can know that this moose mother was ready to defend her babies, no matter the cost. If there were any bears or wolves hiding in those woods, they better beware; mama moose is on the loose! Make sure you check out the video clip below!
