One recent video shows that even the biggest animals on earth need a little help sometimes. When talking about big, is there any animal walking on earth that is as large as an elephant? Nope! In the video, we see that even the biggest creatures need a helping hand (or claw) at times. The short video clip shows an elephant that is clearly in need of some help. From the looks of things, a young elephant has fallen into a pit and can’t get out. The pit seems to be man-made, as can be seen from the concrete structures on the left side of it. As is also clear, the sides of the pit are extremely steep, much too steep for a massive animal to crawl out. We don’t know how the elephant got stuck in the pit, but it is clear that it can’t get out without help. Elephants are massive, and climbing isn’t really their strong suit! A fully grown elephant can weigh between 8,800 and 13,000 lbs (depending on the species). Although this elephant isn’t fully grown, it’s still quite large. Elephants, even at birth, are still really big. When an elephant is born, they usually weigh around 265 lbs! With all that weight, it’s no wonder that the little guy wasn’t able to make it out of the pit. Thankfully, he was going to get some help. As the elephant was climbing out, he hit a tough spot where it looked like he was going to fall all the way back down… until a yellow arm swung in. An excavator had clearly been working nearby and was enlisted to help get this little elephant out of the pit and onto flat ground. Like a mother pushing a baby, the excavator pushed on the elephant’s little booty and nudged it up over the lip of the hole. Even though elephants are strong, mechanical devices can still be quite helpful! Finally, with a final shove, the excavator is able to push the exhausted elephant over the edge and clear out of the hole. We don’t know how long the elephant was in the hole for, but it was clearly tired. Despite digging the hole that the elephant fell into in the first place, humans (and machines) were able to help the elephant out of the hole in the end. Now that’s a story that shows humanity’s responsibility when it comes to problems we create! Make sure you check out the short clip for yourself below!
