This video is short but full of amazing footage. The orca is just feet away from the boat and surfaces, much to the surprise of the woman filming. Luckily, she was able to catch it using a smartphone. She gets another surprise when a seal hops onto the boat, right next to her feet. The seal hangs out for a bit as the orca stays close. The seal remains by the edge and the orca gets even closer to the boat. We don’t get to see the seal’s ultimate fate but we hope that he was able to stay safe and that the orca had to find something to eat elsewhere. One of the funniest parts of the video is the woman’s reaction. Naturally, she is quite baffled and not sure what she should do with her new passenger. She doesn’t want to force him back into the water just to become the whale’s lunch. Keeping in mind that both seals and whales are wild animals, she keeps her distance. Just watching the whole thing unfold. She tries to tell the seal to go away and he can’t be on the boat. He’s not having any of it. Orcas, also called Killer Whales, are some of the most distinct animals in their environment. They are black with white patches which makes them easy to spot and identify. They are apex predators in their ocean world and love to eat seals in particular. Clearly, this seal outsmarted a killer whale because it got the message and decided to take his fate into his own hands Because of their large size and need for energy, orcas typically eat between 100 and 300 pounds per day in the wild. If he was hungry, it’s likely that the orca quickly moved on to find a seal or other animal that was easier to catch.
